The commercial kid originally started by putting on spoken word & open mic events in Kent. Later the kid progressed to putting on and hosting live music events, mostly to raise money for charity. In time the kid got to see how many good musicians existed in Canterbury and surrounding areas and wanted to see those individuals and bands suceed and get maximum promotional opportunites.
This is where the kid began to promote bands to other organisations and club owners so the kids personal desire to see good music get out of Canterbury and get heard as far and wide as possible could finally be fulfilled!
What is the primary focus of the commercial kid?
Well it is isn't very commercial at all!
It is entirely free to register yourself or your band on this site. Commercial kid will also often make recommendations for future bookings or opportunities for gigs entirely free to yourself or the promoter of a venue.
Why all these services free of charge?
Because the original purpose of Commercial Kid promotions was to see good music played as far and wide as possible and create opportunities for real bands to make real progress.
Does the Commercial Kid have any other objectives?
Yes. To re-create a roaring scene music scene in Kent and more specifically Canterbury once again. Once upon a time Canterbury played host to the likes of Jamiroqui, Radio Head and Morcheeba but those days have temporarily passed. It is the kids aim to see this profile raised again.
There are many other organisations, labels, individuals and businessess in Canterbury who would also like to achieve this aim and commercial Kid hopes to highlight those who have a similar objective on this site.
